Gmeh

A self-hosted bridge between Gmail and any IMAP mail client.

What it does

Gmeh mirrors a Gmail mailbox to a local IMAP and SMTP server, so any standard mail client can read and send mail without talking to Google directly. Mail stays in sync in both directions: messages arrive in your client, and marking something read or starred is reflected back to Gmail.

How it uses your Google account

Connecting an account grants Gmeh two Google OAuth scopes, and nothing beyond them:

  • gmail.modify — read your messages and sync read, starred, and deleted state back to Gmail.
  • gmail.send — send mail you compose in your own mail client.

Your mail is stored only on the server running this instance and is never shared with anyone else. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is accessed and how long it is kept.

A private instance

This is a personal, self-hosted deployment rather than a commercial service. Accounts are created only by the administrator and there is no public sign-up.
